Happy Memorial Day Blogland

Happy Memorial Day Blogland...
I would like to take a moment to personally thank Every One who...
HAS SERVED... IS SERVING... WILL SERVE....
Without you we would not be able to line the streets and celebrate
Our Freedom!!!

Let's take a quick moment & think about what Freedom means to each of us. To me it means getting up & living my life as honest as I can & with the freedom to move about as I please. It is not lost on this blogger that without the sacrifice thru out our long history, we would not be the Land Of The FREE or The HOME OF THE BRAVE.

There is a reason people from all over the world want to come to America. It's because of what every one of us takes for granted every day...OUR FREEDOM!!!

So today as we forget all those who gave their lives for us to be able to have our cook-outs, and parties...DON'T FORGET ... REMEMBER & SAY THANK YOU TO THE NEXT PERSON YOU SEE WHO PUTS THEIR LIVES IN DANAGER FOR US ALL.
FIREFIGHTERS, POLICE PEOPLE, EMS PEOPLE &
OUR ENTIRE ARMED FORCES PERSONAL!!!!

And on a side note…To everyone who helped put the parade on today Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!  Very Enjoyable!!! Great Cars, Clowns, Fire Trucks, Police Cars, The Shrine Motorcycles (my fav) & all Wonderful People. It takes a lot to put together a parade that goes thru 3 Communities. And the hard work doesn't go unnoticed.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYONE, HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!

Think Local - Buy Local - Be Local

Think Local - Buy Local - Be Local

As we all know without the “LITTLE GUY” there would be no diversity....All small businesses are struggling in this economic climate. If you can buy it local, please do!!! Why you ask...Local business pay local taxes. We give back to our communities & we know our customers, we care about our customers.

The only way we “SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS” can compete is to offer value added services. Cross promotion of OTHER LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS will work but requires everyone in OUR local communities to understand the implications of buying at the "big box" stores which take money out of the community along with local jobs.

Bigger does not necessarily mean better. Because the Big Box Stores can’t give you the entire package…they just sell flowers w/ no story & feeling behind what they do (For me it means that i have constantly had to compete with the ever growing floral section in the nearby super market)

Here @ CASSANDRA’S FLORALS I tell a story & show feelings thru my arrangements.  I sell the unique & creative.  I make 1 of a kind designs that are enhanced by my personal attention & delivery.  My soul goes into everything I do.. My passion… My luv…I sell the dream… I make sure your dream of the perfect gift for any occasion is full filled… I worry about the detail so you don’t have to.

I am a big supporter of locally owned small businesses

So with that said...I found this out in www Land...

Top Ten reasons to Think Local - Buy Local - Be Local
* Buy Local -- Support yourself: Several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally owned business, rather than a nationally owned businesses, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers and farms -- continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community.

* community groups: Non-profit organizations receive an average 250% more support from smaller business owners than they do from large businesses.
* Keep our community unique: Where we shop, where we eat and have fun -- all of it makes our community home. Our one-of-a-kind businesses are an integral part of the distinctive character of this place. Our tourism businesses also benefit. “When people go on vacation they generally seek out destinations that offer them the sense of being someplace, not just anyplace.” ~ Richard Moe, President, National Historic Preservation Trust

* Reduce environmental impact: Locally owned businesses can make more local purchases requiring less transportation and generally set up shop in town or city centers as opposed to developing on the fringe. This generally means contributing less to sprawl, congestion, habitat loss and pollution.
* Create more good jobs: Small local businesses are the largest employer nationally and in our community, provide the most jobs to residents.
* Get better service: Local businesses often hire people with a better understanding of the products they are selling and take more time to get to know customers.

* Invest in community: Local businesses are owned by people who live in this community, are less likely to leave, and are more invested in the community’s future.

* Put your taxes to good use: Local businesses in town centers require comparatively little infrastructure investment and make more efficient use of public services as compared to nationally owned stores entering the community.

* Buy what you want, not what someone wants you to buy: A marketplace of tens of thousands of small businesses is the best way to ensure innovation and low prices over the long-term. A multitude of small businesses, each selecting products based not on a national sales plan but on their own interests and the needs of their local customers, guarantees a much broader range of product choices.
* Encourage local prosperity: A growing body of economic research shows that in an increasingly homogenized world, entrepreneurs and skilled workers are more likely to invest and settle in communities that preserve their one-of-a-kind businesses and distinctive character.

Think local first + Buy local when you can =
Being a local!
