why do we have to be so connected???

Has anyone observed that the culture of being ‘always connected’ has changed the consumer’s spending habits in a myriad ways? What happened to actually going into the store and asking for something in person? Mobile devices increasingly enable consumers to find, receive dynamic bargains/deals right away, or to compare prices online instantly. While more & more of us are being constantly connected ...& finding way too much online where is the fun in it all? Where is the human aspect of it all?
Remember when you walked into the mall on black Friday and you were memorized by the magic of it all. Thinking how did Santa’s elves do all this in one night? And your parents saying if you believe than anything can happen!!!
Where did that all go? How did we let this happen? Where is the magic? The fun? The WOW?   While we are a society of give me, give me, give me, it’s easy to see why & how this happened i mean we want it now and be dammed with the how & why. We are definitely a culture of being connected in more ways than one.
But...
I’m just saying... is anyone else sick of holiday deals now? Of the commercials throwing it to us already? Of them telling us what we should be doing instead of us just doing? Of how big business is extending black friday all weekend , taking away from the small business on their day (sm business saturday). Or how Cyber Monday is a week long instead of just Cyber Monday. How about how they tell us how we should look & talk. What we should wear and who we should wear. I remember asking my mom one Christmas if I could have a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans.(did i just date myself?) And when she asked why, I said because everyone is getting them. She said we’ll see. I was so happy, well on Christmas morning I was so looking forward to my jeans & when I opened them all I could think of was Wrangler? Really?(no offence wrangler) My mom could tell I was upset & asked if I like my gift. I wasn’t a complete moron & knew enough to say yes,(i mean if you new my mom you knew that you said yes no matter what) it just wasn’t the designer I thought it would be. My mom’s famous come back (and i wish i had a kid to use this on all the time)... but honey they are designer ... I asked how she thought that. She said they are designed to cover my ass & that they will....
A the good old days :D can you see saying that to your child now? They would report you to CYS.  It would be & is easy to see & just go with it. But what would happen if we chuck what they tell us should happen and when and just go with the possibilities.
Now that really would be magic :D
